We constantly feed ourselves nutritionless processed foods, sit for long periods, exercise for woman bikeshort periods to burn off those pesky calories, starve ourselves in hope to shed pounds, consistently stress our systems and we wonder why we are overweight and sick!

Paradoxically one of the most common things I see with people trying to lose weight is over
exercise and starvation! With this approach we are telling our body there is a famine and too hang on to every calorie of stored fat because it’s in a living hell with no end in sight. The body will gladly give up muscle proteins to make energy in order to retain that precious commodity of life, stored body fat. The brain has convinced us, along with help from Jillian Michaels and Oxygen magazine that if you eat like a bird and beat yourself to death at a cardio class or on a treadmill then it will be all rainbows, unicorns and bikinis! Sorry to be the purveyor of bad news but this is rarely the case.

The bottom line……….

Lift heavy weights and do interval training
Eat a variety of whole, nutritionally dense foods
Walk and move lots
Sleep well
Relax often and smile!

Yours in health
